(Italian scientific sector “Economia Aziendale” SECS-P/07)

The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento invites expressions of interest for a direct call of a Senior Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or of an Associate Professor in Accounting (Economia Aziendale – SECS-P/07). This position is reserved for academics working permanently abroad.

We aim to hire a person with significant accomplishments in interdisciplinary research in Accounting.

We are particularly interested in researchers working in Financial Accounting, International Accounting, Accountability, Public management, Corporate governance, Family Business, Management accounting and control. Topics other than the above will also be taken into consideration.

The candidate should have a strong publication record and the skills to collaborate with other colleagues and areas, as well as to participate in international research projects.

The candidate should have relevant teaching experience in English language. Teaching experiences in Italian language are also welcome.

Research

The University of Trento is a top ranked University in Italy, and it is well positioned in international rankings. This result is due in particular to the University’s success in research, and to its international research networks and student exchange programmes.

In the QS World University Rankings 2020, the University of Trento is now 389th (441st in 2017) and of the best Italian universities included in the QS ranking, Trento is ninth.

The National Research Quality Assessment (VQR) conducted by Italian universities from 2011-2014 and published by ANVUR (Italian Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research) at the end of December 2016 confirmed the University of Trento in top position among public universities and sixth in the general ranking, which also included research institutes like Sant’Anna, Scuola Universitaria Superiore Pisa.

In the last national research assessment (VQR) the business administration area (economia aziendale) of the Department ranked in the top five at national level.

Department Teaching

The Department offers 9 MA courses - 5 in English and 4 in Italian - and 3 Ph.D. courses in English designed for international students. The Department also offers 3 undergraduate courses, including a course in Economics and Management in English.

The successful applicant will teach in Basic and Advanced Accounting and also in Financial Accounting area (Economia Aziendale) at undergraduate, Master and Ph.D. level.

Terms and Conditions

To be eligible for “direct appointment from abroad” (chiamata dall’estero), applicants must have been employed as faculty members or research staff at a foreign university (or research institute) for at least three consecutive years, and must hold an equivalent academic position at their current foreign university. Any application not satisfying this requirement cannot be considered.

The tenure-track position is a fixed-term three year contract that leads Associate professorship upon obtainment of the national scientific qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) and positive evaluation by the University.

The position of this call is under the SC 13/B1 ministerial higher education sector (Economia aziendale/ Business Administration) and SSD SECS-P/07 (Economia aziendale/ Business Administration).

The annual gross salary for the position of Senior Assistant Professor (tenure-track) is 46,450 and for the position of Associate Professor is € 52,047.58. In compliance with Italian law, the University of Trento will cover social security charges and health care. Researchers who have not been resident in Italy in the past two years may benefit from a special tax exemption.

The nominee will receive a maximum personal grant of  €12,000 for research expenses.
