• Economic Security – Interdependencies and Vulnerability of Economic Systems and Firms - sponsored by Chamber of Commerce of Trento

In recent years, economic interdependencies are increasingly perceived as a vulnerability factor rather than as a driver of geopolitical integration. Additionally, the use of economic coercion is becoming more common.
This PhD scholarship is dedicated to studying economic exposure to external shocks and dependency on foreign supplies. The topic can be analyzed at various levels of aggregation (economic system, specific industrial sectors, regions, value chains, individual companies) using a variety of methodological tools characterized by a strong empirical approach.

This line of research lies at the intersection of international economics, industrial economics, and quantitative analysis. The selected candidate will engage with a rapidly expanding scientific literature, will become proficient with a wide range of analytical tools, and will translate research results into guidelines that may be useful to policymakers and businesses.

Some experience with empirical analysis and large-scale databases represents preferred qualifications for selection.
