Presentation
The Department of Economics and Management (DEM) at the University of Trento promotes research on the decision-making processes of key economic and social actors — individuals, firms, institutions, and organizations — and on their effects in terms of economic, financial, organizational, and market performance.
These perspectives are complemented by a focus on the methodological and statistical tools used to measure, analyze, and interpret such phenomena.
The Department’s research profile is characterized by the study of decisions, performance, and methods of measurement and analysis in relation to a number of cross-cutting themes, including psychological and behavioral factors; innovation, risk, and change; sustainability and health; and institutions, history, and territories.
By bringing together these perspectives and themes, DEM research explores economic and managerial phenomena in a dynamic and context-sensitive way, considering not only economic outcomes but also their social, environmental, and policy implications. From this perspective, attention is also given to business models that are not exclusively driven by profit maximization, reflecting a broader vision of an economy that serves people and communities.
