After the admission to the PhD programme, Doctoral students are assigned a tutor, who is appointed by the Executive Committee.
The tutor is in charge of coaching students over the first year, specifically:
- supervising students’ coursework activities over the first year;
- helping students in identifying possible supervisors before the end of the first year.
Before the end of the first year, for each PhD student the Doctoral Programme Committee identifies a thesis supervisor (who should be a member of the Doctoral Programme Committee) and at least one co-supervisors (internal or external members), who will be part of the Thesis Advisory Group (TAG).
The supervisor, assisted by the TAG, has the responsibility to guide the PhD student in his/her study and research activities, to supervise the writing of the thesis until the delivery of the thesis.
